RINGWORM OF THE SKIN
It is an infection caused by mold-like fungi that live on the dead tissues of the skin. It can occur on the nails,hair and scalp.

CAUSES
Ringworm is NOT caused by a worm. It is by a fungus. The kinds of fungi that cause ringworm live and spread on the top layer of the skin and hair. They grow best in warm,moist areas. It is contagious and spreads when there is skin to skin contact with an infected person or animal.
It can also spread through the use of sharing of towels,clothing’s or sports gear of an infected person.
. SYMPTOMS
The telltale sign is a red, scalypatchor bump that itches. Overtime,the bump turns into a ringor circle shaped patch. The inside of the patch is usually clear or scaly.

PREVENTION
-Wear loose-fitting cotton clothing’s.
-Keep skin clean and dry.
-Don’t share clothing’s,sports gear,towel or sheets with an infected person.
-Wash hands with soap and water after playing with pets.
