SORE THROAT

Sore throat is pain, scratchiness, or irritation of the throat that often worsens when you swallow. The most common cause of sore throat is a viral infection such as cold or flu

Causes:
VIRAL INFECTION
Common cold
Measles.
Flu
BACTERIAL INFECTION
Streptococcus pyogenes which causes strept throat
Other causes are;
Allergies; such as dust and pollen
Dry indoor air makes the throat itchy and rough
An irritant; exposure to tobacco smoke or chemicals can irritate the throat.

Symptoms:
Pain or scratchy sensation in the throat
Pain that worsens with swallowing or talking
Difficulty in swallowing
White patches or pus on the tonsils
Headache

Prevention:
Stay away from people who are sick
Wash your hands thoroughly and frequently especially after using the toilet
Avoid sharing food drinking glasses or utensils
Cough or sneeze into a tissue and throw it away
Avoid touching public phones
